An Introduction to the Oakville Museum Start your class visit to the museum with a one hour introductory program to the early days of Oakville. Students will gain an understanding of the founding of the town while participating in the program: The Chisholm Family And Their Community.
The Chisholm family home, Erchless Estate, has been restored to the early 1900s. During this one hour introductory program students participate in an interactive tour of the Chisholm Estate and explore the growth of Oakville and how it shaped the lives of its people.

*Architecture Hunt in Old Oakville This special tour give students the opportunity to understand the development of their community and identify key personalities and their contributions to this early harbour town Using photographic clues, students will tour the historic Downtown Oakville area searching for architectural features on various significant heritage buildings.
* Oakville's First Post Office Students participate in postal-related activities in Oakville’s first Post Office. The interior of this building provides the atmosphere of a post office between 1835 and 1856. Students will write a letter with a quill pen and seal it with sealing wax.
* First Nations People This program introduces students to the First Nations People in Upper Canada and the Native history of the local community. Using maps, students explore the areas of settlement of the First Nations People and learn about the historic Mississauga community of Oakville by visiting a First Nations historic point on the Sixteen Mile Creek. Students explore the lifestyle of the First Nations through interactive story telling and by working with artifacts.
